Preparations for the launch of the National Judicial Council of Vapostori (NJCV) are underway, an organisation formed a few years back to give a clear working relationship between the Government and the Vapostori and Zion religions.

As the State and Church remain inseparable, the apostolic sects are among Zanu PF’s affiliates that relentlessly canvassed support for President Mnangagwa and the revolutionary party in the past peaceful harmonised elections.

Nyika Inotongwa, igovakwa nekunamatirwa nevene vayo! has been the Second Republic’s philosophy as the President  religiously emphasises that the relationship between the State and Church should remain intimate.

Speaking on behalf of the chairman of the National Judicial Council of Vapostori Bishop Leornard Mukumba, deputy chairman Bishop Philani Moyo said the main goal of the council is to align Government statutes into Vapostori doctrines.

“Aligning Government statutory laws into Vapostori sects, for example, Child Protection Act, Child Marriages Law, GBV, Education Rights, Women’s Rights, Appropriate Urban sites to situate places of Worshipping and Environmental Health, among others,” he said.

“Resolving Vapostori tension and splits by bringing conflicting groups together, or solutions that have mutual consensus; giving the correct religious standing of Zimbabwe inland or abroad and partnering with relevant ministries and eradicating doctrines that infringe educational and health rights to church members,” he said.

Apostle Biggie Mutawu said since time immemorial, the relationship of the church and State has been interwoven.

“We always support the State as we believe we are one. Freedom of religion is continuously being witnessed by all worshippers in the country. The National Judicial Council of Vapostori is praying for the nation to overcome the effects of inadequate rainfall in some parts of the country.

“All this is in line with the Godly mantra of His Excellency President Dr Mnangagwa which translates to, ‘The country is built by its people, governed by its people and prayed for by its people'”.

Formed in 2019, the organisation has been taking bold steps in mitigating child marriages within various denominations by educating believers, promoting wide leadership and aligning Government statutory laws into Vapostori and Zion doctrines and laws.
