. . . council slates workers’ attitude

Blessings Chidakwa Municipal Correspondent
HARARE City Council officials have raised the red flag on their employees over their “negative’’ attitude towards work, accusing them of being arrogant, which is blamed for poor service delivery in the city.

The city managers are also not spared from the deteriorating service delivery in the city, as they allegedly have not been setting targets and assessing their workers’ performance, a claim supported by official documents in possession of this publication.

According to recent human resources and general purposes committee minutes, council has called for serious change of attitude among its   workers.

“That the town clerk and acting human capital director ensures a complete change of attitude towards work and report to the human resources and general purposes committee on initiatives for change in employee attitudes,” reads the  minutes.

“The local authority has called for effective supervision of employees in council service. Arising from the discussion on the proposal to change negative employee attitudes towards work, the committee suggested that the town clerk and heads of department address various levels of employees with the view of reinforcing adoption of positive attitudes towards work across council.”
