Council suspends project

recently,Town clerk Dr Tendai Mahachi said the much-hyped US$500 000 holding bay which was set to help decongest the city was part of major projects that council had shelved.

“It is all about prioritising hence we have sought to concentrate on roads and water for the time being. We have temporarily set aside the development of major projects like holding bays so that we can fully concentrate on the dilapidating road infrastructure. We have seen that roads need more work,” he said.

Meanwhile, commuter omnibus operators have begun penetrating the inner central business district, bringing back the congestion.

Dr Mahachi said council had already set aside funds for roads and would use the money to purchase equipment for road works.
