Council suspends senior nurse over vaccination cards

Conrad Mupesa-Mashonaland West Bureau

Chinhoyi Municipality has suspended Mzari Polyclinic Sister-in-Charge, Charity Muzani over 27 missing vaccination cards which were under her care.

The cards went missing last month.

Council’s Health Director, Dr William Mayabo confirmed the suspension of the senior nurse pending investigations by police.

Dr Mayabo said as the sister-in-charge, Muzani was the custodian of the institution and its supplies.

“We took the issue to ZRP, which referred the case to CID with investigations currently underway,” he said.

He said the town clerk, Mr Maxwell Kaitano managed to come up with a board of inquiry.

The suspension is expected to open a can of worms with a number of the health workers expected to be sucked into the issue following suspected underhand dealings.
