THE City of Mutare has restored full political representation across all its wards following the swearing-in of Councillor Portia Gwinyayi as the new Ward Three representative.
Councillor Gwinyayi took her oath of office today during a ceremony held at the Civic Centre, officially filling the vacancy left by the late Councillor Tichaenzana Maita, who died in June.
The swearing-in ceremony was officiated by Mutare mayor, Councillor Simon Chabuka, and attended by fellow councillors, Mutare District Development Coordinator, Mr Tendai Kapenzi, Honourable Gertrude Mutandi, council management officials and residents from Ward Three.

Councillor Gwinyayi secured the seat following her victory in the recent by-election, earning the mandate to represent the interests of Ward Three residents in council.
Speaking during the ceremony, city officials welcomed her to the local authority and expressed confidence that she would contribute to the development of the ward and the city at large.
Her swearing-in marks the restoration of full representation in Mutare City Council, ensuring that all wards now have elected councillors to articulate the concerns and aspirations of their communities.
