A couple was arrested at a police checkpoint along the Harare-Chirundu Road after they were found in possession of large quantities of mbanje.
The couple was intercepted while they were travelling in a foreign-registered truck at the 288km peg along the highway.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest in a statement.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of a couple, identified as Dzinoreva Tafadzwa Jadson Brian (33) and Elizabeth Mugezelwa (44), in connection with a case of unlawful possession of dagga,” he said.
“The suspects, who were travelling in a foreign-registered truck, were intercepted at a police checkpoint on October 29, 2026, at the 288-kilometre peg along the Harare–Chirundu Road. “A subsequent search of the truck led to the recovery of 10 black plastics wrapped with yellow tape, containing compressed dagga.”
Meanwhile, police have also arrested Patrick Khulani Ngwenya (37) in connection with a case of unlawful possession of mbanje on October 30, 2026.
The suspect, who was travelling as a passenger in a Toyota Quantum, was arrested at the Northbound Search Bay in Beitbridge.
