A HARARE woman has obtained a protection order against her husband at the Harare Civil Court after accusing him of insulting her and threatening to kill her.
Ms Catherine Masimba told the court that her husband, Mr Farai Mushayademo, frequently insulted her, accusing her of being a prostitute and claiming that her entire family consisted of prostitutes.
She also accused him of threatening to stab her with a knife whenever they had disagreements.
“On October 5, 2026, I just woke up from sleep, and he was holding a knife and was about to stab me while I was asleep,” she said.
She also complained about her husband’s conduct at home, saying he left bedsheets untidy and failed to flush the toilet after using it.
“He is like a Ben 10; I do everything at home,” she said.
Mr Mushayademo’s lawyer challenged the allegations, arguing that there was no witness to support the claims.
The lawyer said that if the allegations of stabbing her with a knife were serious, she was supposed to have reported him to the police, as cases of couples killing each other are on the rise.
“There is no witness to support the allegations that she is making about her husband. If the information is true, she was supposed to take pictures or videos,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Ms Janemary Makonye warned the couple against allowing domestic disputes to escalate into violence.
She urged Mr Mushayademo to stop threatening his wife, cautioning that violent conduct could result in serious criminal consequences, including incarceration.
After hearing submissions from both parties, Ms Makonye granted the protection order, directing Mr Mushayademo not to harass or threaten his wife.
