THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has postponed conducting interviews of judges for the High Court which had been scheduled for today to Wednesday following an upsurge in Covid-19 cases.

The Commission had set to interview candidates that had been nominated for the nine positions of Judge of the High Court of Zimbabwe.

In a statement JSC said it will advise the public of the new dates in due course.

“The Judicial Service Commission regrets to advise interviewees, the media and members of the public that in view of the continuing upsurge in Covid-19 infections and the Government’s call for all institutions to further restrict operations, the interviews for the positions of Judge of the High Court scheduled for 26, 27 and 28 July 2021 at Rainbow Towers Hotel Harare are postponed until further notice.

“The Commission apologises to everyone concerned for any inconvenience that may have been caused by the decision to defer the interviews. The decision was taken in the interest of the health of everyone directly involved in the process particularly and all Zimbabweans generally. In compliance with the requirements of section 180 (2) (c) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe the public will be informed of the new dates of the interviews in due course,” read the statement.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has also suspended the pensioner’s biometric registration process due to an upsurge of Covid-19 cases while the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has closed its offices temporarily for two weeks in response to the rising Covid-19 cases countrywide.
