ALL pupils who were quarantined in Bulawayo schools after testing Covid-19 positive have been released after recovering.
The pupils who were isolated at their respective schools will now be able to enjoy the Christmas holiday with their families.
Last week, the Ministry of Health and Child Care directed health authorities in all the country’s provinces to ensure that all pupils at boarding schools who caught the virus remain quarantined at their schools as others went home for the holidays.
More than 100 schools countrywide were hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and the spike in cases has been attributed to the detection of the new variant, Omicron which is highly mutated.
Last week, Bulawayo Provincial Medical Director (PMD), Dr Maphios Siamuchembu revealed that the city had more than 70 pupils who were in quarantine.
The affected schools in the city were Luveve High and Townsend High which had 66 girls and two cooks in quarantine.
Dr Siamuchembu yesterday said the last group of pupils who were in quarantine was released on Thursday and yesterday.
Zimbabwe has since the beginning of this month been witnessing an increase in new Covid-19 infections.
