CRANBORNE Bullets head coach Gift Muzire is focused on assembling a competitive squad for the upcoming MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League season.
The army side have been in camp intensifying preparations since January 19.
Their campaign kicks-off with a high-stakes home match against fellow army side Black Rhinos, a historically significant derby, and one expected to create excitement early.
Coach Muzire acknowledged the challenge of a demanding opening schedule.
Following the derby, Cranborne faces a tricky run of fixtures against Black Mambas, Golden Eagles, Banket and Harare City.
“Our opening matches are a bit tough and would require us to be at our best to stand a good chance to collect maximum points,” said Muzire.
“Thus we are taking every day in our schedule seriously. We need the guys to be combative and gel quickly.”
To bolster experience, the club has made four key signings.
The new acquisitions include Kibaki Dhlamini from Hardrock, Mike Nezungayi from Dulibadzimu, Hilton Hondo from ZPC Kariba, and the prolific goal scorer Patrick Mandizha from Hunters.
Muzire emphasised the goal of building a squad ready to compete from the outset.
“We are hoping to assemble a competitive squad that will be able to compete from the first day,” he said.
“That will reflect on how our season might pan out, hence the importance of us ticking all boxes in pre-season.
As part of their final preparations, the team is planning friendly matches.
“Of course the club is considering staging some friendly matches, and we are yet to finalise. That will be important to prepare ourselves for the new season,” Muzire added.
The MCM Estates Northern Region Soccer League is expected to kick-off on February 28 and leave teams with a few weeks to perfect their work.
