AFTER collecting their first set of full points last week, Cranborne Bullets would be seeking to secure another victory this afternoon when they host Green Fuel at the National Sports Stadium.
The army side claimed their first victory against Simba Bhora last Friday at the same venue.
And coach Nesbert Saruchera wants to build on that victory by winning again.
Before the victory Bullets had managed two draws and five defeats.
“We are playing at home, we have managed to break the jinx so we are hoping we will collect another three points tomorrow (today),” said Saruchera.
The veteran coach said his team has been playing well since the season began but was struggling with scoring. The soldiers thus far have only scored twice with skipper Tadiwa Chibunyu scoring in the 2-1 defeat against Sheasham while Sylvester Munhira scored the all-important goal against Simba Bhora last week.
Saruchera, however, wants his troops to improve the way they are playing.
“We want to improve on our play. The players are confident but not overconfident,” said Saruchera.
Bullets face the new boys Green Fuel who were also struggling before the appointment of nomadic coach Rodwell Dhlakama recently.
GreenFuel picked their first victory two weeks ago, interestingly against fellow newcomers Simba Bhora at the National Sports Stadium.
Last weekend they had a goalless draw against ZPC Kariba at Gibbo stadium.
They would also be chasing their second victory this afternoon.
Saruchera said they are aware of the threat posed by GreenFuel.
“Most of the time, players improve when they have a new coach they want to impress. But we are also ready for them. It is going to be a good game,” said Saruchera.
Dhlakama says they are not reading much into how Cranborne Bullets have been playing.
“Cranborne Bullets might be bottom of the table but if you look closely those are just semantics. The reality is that they are just two wins away from the team which is in mid-table and this shows that it is a competitive league and no match will be easier” said Dhlakama.
The former Ngezi Platinum coach said they will treat today’s game as a new assignment.
“We are well past our last game at the National Stadium when we played Simba Bhora because we went on to play another match against ZPC Kariba so this a whole new assignment for which we have to be wary of the threat posed by Cranborne Bullets in as much we have adequately prepared for the battle,” said Dhlakama.
