CRANBORNE Bullets coach Gift Muzire says his rebuilding side are ready for the challenge of rivals Harare City when the Northern Region Soccer League Super Eight Cup kicks off at Callies Sports Club on Friday.
The two former PSL clubs meet in the opening encounter of the 2026 quarter-final fixtures at 3pm.
Four years after the last final pitting Golden Eagles and Simba Bhora was staged in October 2022, the tournament is back on the radar of the Division One League.
Golden Eagles beat league champions Simba Bhora 2-0 at Rufaro in that final.
Then as of now, the tournament features the top eight teams as at the halfway stage of the2026 MCM Estates NRSL marathon.
For Cranborne Bullets, it is a chance for some early silverware, and their coach, Muzire, is upbeat about his team’s chances.
The game will also provide another tough test for Muzire’s rebuilding project at Cranborne Bullets.
“We must trust the process.
“We are preparing well and looking forward to what should be a competitive Super Eight Cup clash against Harare City,” said Muzire.
“We know it will not be easy, so we must work hard, execute our game plan, and give it our best to stand a chance of progressing.”
Bullets ended the mid-season period on seventh place, and the soldiers acknowledge that it has not been a smooth ride in the league so far.
Muzire revealed that more than nine players from last season have left during the mid-season break. “The squad has undergone a major overhaul. We are still building new combinations and working to ensure every-thing comes together.
“This competition presents another opportunity for the new-look squad to develop cohesion. “We must remain disciplined, trust the process and approach the match with confidence,” he said.
Meanwhile, the league matches will resume on August 4 and 5, as the battle for the championship is expected to tighten.
