ZIMBABWE senior women’s national cricket team is coming back home from Thailand with a lot to work after a string of poor results in the two white-ball series that they took part in.
The Lady Chevrons, playing in their first international series of the year, put up a dismal performance that saw them lose both the One Day International (ODI) and the T20I series. The team has left Thailand, headed back to Zimbabwe and is most likely going back to the drawing board.
There will be a lot to work on especially the batting department after the batters failed to step up in all the matches played. The ODI series was characterised by dreadful batting as they lost the three-match series 3-0.
Using the series as part of their preparations for the upcoming global and regional qualifiers, the Gary Brent side showed no signs of hunger in their matches. In their first match, Zimbabwe suffered a 78 runs loss, chasing a target of 155 runs. They were bowled out for just 76 runs.
The dismal batting display was followed by yet another one in the second match where they lost by 45 runs having limited their opponents to 217 runs before going on to finish on 169/9 in 50 overs as the hosts took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Thailand wrapped up the 50-over matches with a six wickets win in the last match.
