MR Sinkwa and Sports Zone will sponsor the inaugural Cricket Ekhaya/Cricket Kumuunzi Programme Tournament to feature both primary and secondary schools is held at Binga High School on July 30.
Organised under the Matabeleland North Cricket Association, the event will be a follow-up to the 2023 coaches training workshop. Several teachers and volunteers in the district were trained so that they could pioneer the sport in the district.

“The sport was introduced by Zimbabwe Cricket under the programme Cricket Ekhaya/Cricket Kumuunzi.
“They conducted a coaching course and, this is how it started, nothing much has happened since then,” said Ronald Siyamwamwata, one of the organisers and an active sports development volunteer in the district.
He said after a long time of inactivity, they had decided to play host to the event to see strides made in introducing the sport.
“We thought of activating the sport since we have trained coaches, we have the enthusiastic children and we just need to provide the platform as organisers,” said Siyamwamwata.
Binga, Manjolo, Lusulu, Kariyangwe, Samende, Easy Learning, Masibinta and Chinonge are the secondary schools that will participate.
In the primary schools’ category, Binga Bulawayo Kraal, Kariyangwe, Msenampongo, Donga, Twabane and Chinonge will be in action.
