A HARARE woman allegedly recruited two Zimbabwean women into prostitution after lying to them that they were going to work for her in Angola.Jesca Mahuni (62), a cross-border trader from Cranborne, would allegedly force the women to have unprotected sexual intercourse with men with her pocketing the money.
Mahuni appeared before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe last week charged with human trafficking and was remanded to March 5 on US$200 bail.
She was ordered to surrender her passport, report twice a week to the police, and reside at her Cranborne house until the matter is finalised.
Prosecutor Miss Sharon Mashavira alleges that between July 13 last year and February 2014, Mahuni recruited two Zimbabwean women under the pretext that they would sell her wares in Angola.
Mahuni allegedly went with one of the women and made arrangements to meet up with the other one in Angola. It is alleged that once in Angola, Mahuni took the women’s passports and cellphones.
The State claims the two women went for two weeks without bathing. On several occasions, it is alleged, the women were forced to have unprotected sex with different men while the accused collected payments.
The court heard that the women were rescued by a Zimbabwean woman who took them to the country’s embassy in Luanda.
