THE high-stakes hostage drama at Crystal Lounge has ended, but with more questions than answers. After hours of tension, armed police are now dispersing from the scene, and shockingly, no arrests have been confirmed.
Earlier today, chaos erupted when gun-toting robbers stormed the nightspot, locked employees inside, and confiscated their phones. One quick-thinking staffer who was in the toilet managed to alert authorities, sparking a rapid response from armed police, the canine unit, and ambulance services.
Six terrified hostages were rescued after officers breached the premises, while others climbed onto the roof and fired warning shots into the air in an attempt to flush out the criminals.
The surrounding streets—Robert Mugabe Road and 10th Avenue, were sealed off as cops prepared for a potential shootout. But now, in a stunning anticlimax, the siege has been called off and law enforcement is quietly retreating from the scene.
“There are no indications of any arrests,” confirmed sources on the ground. “Maybe the suspects managed to slip away in the chaos.”
To make matters murkier, detectives say a separate robbery attempt was foiled earlier this morning at a nearby sports bar, where the suspect was caught wielding a toy gun.
With Crystal Lounge back in civilian hands and no suspects in custody, the hunt for the robbers continues.
Police are yet to issue an official statement on the debacle
