Management at the popular outdoor joint Junction 24 have come with more innovative moves that are expected to provide better entertainment for its growing clientele. The joint which has taken over as the prime outdoor leisure spot targeting a mature audience and family gathering will now host more family shows and cultural events that have become the toast of many funny loving Hararians.
According to the joint’s general manager Tavepi Madzingira, the joint has come up with inventive programs to support and promote arts and artist in line with their partnership with Arts Association of Zimbabwe.
“We are going to have an arts and culture day every last Saturday of the month and this month the day lies on the August 30 coinciding with the closing of the Harare Agricultural Show we have moved the show September 6, which is the following weekend.
“We are a family joint and want families to go out as units and share the Junction 24 experience,” he said.
Madzingira said the arts and culture days will be packed with lots of activities for children and families.
He said the joint was also targeting visitors, particularly from the Diaspora and international tourists, to understand the cultural dynamism enjoyed in Zimbabwe. “Our international residence and foreign visitors have not really integrated into the fabric of our society and this is a perfect opportunity to close the gap. “We want our international residence and foreign visitors to have a feel of who we are as a people, how resilient we are in the face of current economic hardships.”
He said while the joint is still in negotiations with artists to perform at the culture shows the repertoire would be made up of live bands, performing artists, mbira, marimba, traditional dances and local jazz artists.
“We are still to sign up some artists but I can confirm that Jababvu and Mbira dzeNharira will be playing at these events.
