THE Cure Children’s Hospital half-marathon will be held in Bulawayo tomorrow under the theme “Change Life, Donate Blood”.

The event is part of an awareness campaign to encourage people to donate blood.

Cure Children’s Hospital was recently opened in Bulawayo and is the first and only charitable paediatric orthopaedic hospital offering corrective surgical care to children with disabilities in Zimbabwe.

Bulawayo Athletics Board (Bab) chairperson Watson Madanyika said the road run is being held in partnership with Cure Children’s Hospital and National Blood Service of Zimbabwe.

“While registration for the competition is free, participants will be required to donate blood. The event is basically being held to promote blood donations,” said Madanyika.

The race starts at the Cure Children’s Hospital at the corner of Old Esigodini and Kenwood roads.

Meanwhile Bab is set to host its final event of the year, the Liquor Hub half-marathon on December 12.

The race is sponsored by Liquor Hub with the aim of assisting the less privileged in society.
