A SUPERVISOR, who allegedly used an old receipt book to defraud Chinhoyi University of Technology’s Medicinal Feed Factory, is on the run.

The Medicinal Feed Factory lost about US$17,000.

Jairos Makasa, who stays in Chitungwiza, is the man accused of orchestrating the fraud.

Reports last week had claimed that the man on the run was Mafaro Zengeni, the farm manager.

Zengeni’s name was dragged into the crime after he was implicated by Makasa in a report he submitted to the university authorities.

However, it has since been established that Zengeni was not the man who was on the run and he is still at work at the university and has not been charged of any offence.

Makasa, who dragged Zengeni’s name into the case, is the one who is on the run.

In the report he submitted to authorities, Makasa allegedly confessed to defrauding the institution during the sale of beef fattening feed.

According to Makosa’s admission, the fraud began on January 31, last year.

“This happened from receipt number 233130 up to receipt number 233187.”

Chinhoyi University of Technology Acting Communications Public Relations, Marketing and PR Director Gifford Chikuya, confirmed the fraud to H-Metro.

“It is true that a case of fraud was committed but the person who committed the fraud Makasa is at large,” said Chikuya.
