JUST like a job application, aspiring Miss Tourism Zimbabwe contestants will now be required to send in their curriculum vitae (CVs) when entering for the revamped beauty pageant.
In a cocktail of changes introduced to change the face of Miss Tourism Zimbabwe – formerly Carnival Queen Zimbabwe – contestants must now be holders of a diploma or degree to be considered for the beauty pageant that is open to those aged 18 to 24.
Accompanying the CV, models should attach scanned copies of Advanced Level, diploma or degree qualifications, scanned copies of ID or passport, two digital photos of themselves, one should be a mug shot and the other a full body. Models should not have any tattoos or visible facial scars.
The aspiring models should send all these to [email protected] on or before September, 31.
The patron of the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Barbara Mzembi and a five member committee tasked with organising the pageant met in Harare on Monday and came up with a list of requirements.
“We’re not only looking at a beautiful, slim figured woman, but we’re looking for contestants who have a minimum of A’ Level, a diploma or degree. They must be eloquent, charismatic, be of good character, reputation and have a passion for Zimbabwe,” said Mzembi.
In addition to academic qualifications, aspiring Miss Tourism Zimbabwe contestants, just like in a number of beauty pageants around the world, must be single, have no criminal record and be a Zimbabwean citizen.
Mzembi took over the patronage of Miss Tourism Zimbabwe with Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) backing after ZTA pulled the plug on sponsoring the Miss Carnival pageant citing financial constraints.
Auditing and accounting firm Deloitte have been roped in to administer funds of the beauty pageant as well as oversee funds meant for community based projects targeting the girl child that will be run by the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe.
The five-member committee formed specifically for the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, would sit and decide when the pageant would be run, draw up a budget, come up with a panel of judges and identify community based projects that will be run by the pageant.
