Cyan Boujee (real name Honour Zuma) has recently announced that she will not be accepting any new bookings until the festive season.
On social media, she shared: “Cyan’s booking management will not be accepting any new bookings until the festive season. Any current flyers or appearances posted are for events confirmed last year.”
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.”
In the caption, she added: “December was mine. Time to let other DJs eat.”
Boujee’s December schedule was fully booked, marking a strong return after a challenging period in her career.
After facing criticism and being dismissed by some, she turned heads during the past festive season.
Reflecting on her journey, she wrote on Instagram: “They counted me out, cancelled me, whispered, laughed, prayed for my downfall… But here we are. I didn’t beg. I didn’t fold. I just worked.
“To anyone going through it: let them doubt you. Your comeback will humble everyone who thought you wouldn’t make it.”
Her career has not been without controversy. Boujee faced significant backlash after she was “cancelled” by many social media users and banned from TikTok. The controversy arose following her promotion of a Russian job program called the Alabuga Start Programme in late August 2025.
The programme targeted young South African women between the ages of 18 and 22, offering work and study opportunities in Russia, including accommodation and stipends.
Reports later emerged that participants were sent to work in drone manufacturing factories, had their passports confiscated, and endured poor living conditions.
South African authorities warned that the opportunities were unverified and could involve human trafficking.
Boujeedeleted the promotional videos and apologised, calling the experience a “huge learning curve.”
She explained that she had not been paid for the promotion and had not fully understood the programme’s implications. She also stated that she had concerns about participant treatment even before the public backlash.
Despite the scrutiny, Boujee continued to focus on her career, describing the period as a test of resilience and determination – IOL.
