Fungai Muderere in Selous, Mashonaland West
The eighth edition of the annual Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, a cycling extravaganza, began on Thursday morning and is expected to conclude on Saturday in Zvishavane.
The event has attracted both social and elite cyclists, testing the limits of their endurance.
Although not a competition, the tour promotes togetherness, charity, and appreciation of the natural resources that drive Zimbabwe’s economy.
The route follows the Great Dyke — a mineral-rich geological belt stretching for over 550 kilometres — which supports millions of Zimbabweans and employs hundreds of thousands through various mining activities.
The Great Dyke passes through Chegutu, Kadoma, Kwekwe, and Gweru, among other areas.
Cyclists were flagged off at Zimplats by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West Province, Marian Chombo.
