A 60-YEAR-OLD man from Chiredzi allegedly raped his two-year-old daughter and ruptured her bladder. The girl now has complications in relieving herself. Timothy Chisengwe, a member of the Chipiwa Sugarcane Farmers’ Association, allegedly sexually abused the minor once at a farm in Mkwasine where the girl lives with her paternal grandmother.

Appearing before Chiredzi magistrate, Geraldino Mutsotso, last week, Chisengwe was not asked to plead. He was remanded in custody to December 2. The magistrate advised him to apply to the High Court for bail.

The prosecutor, Liberty Hove, said on September 27 at around 2 PM, Chisengwe visited the minor at Mkwasine estates.

“Chisengwe is said to have phoned the minor’s grandmother saying he missed his daughter and wanted to take her to his house for the night. The grandmother gave him permission,” said Hove. The court heard Chisengwe found the grandmother away and called his daughter before ordering her to lie on the sofa and removed her panties.

“He raped her once after which he threatened to kill her if she dared to report what had happened. However, all hell broke loose when the grandmother arrived home and noticed that the girl had complications in passing urine,” said Hove. The grandmother interrogated her and she implicated her father.
