Dad drags son to court for redress

This was revealed when Elliot Nyakauru approached the court seeking a protection order against his son, Richard Nyakauru.
Elliot told the court that Richard was disturbing his and his mother’s peace (Richard’s grandmother) by being violent when he gets drunk.
“My son is drinking excessively and becomes violent to everyone including my mother.
“He becomes rude and disrespectful to the extend of calling me by my first name,” he said.
The court heard Richard often comes home late and drunk thereby disturbing their sleep.
“Recently he tried to open the door where my mother was sleeping using a knife.
“He threatened to kill me when I tried to counsel him over his behaviour,” he said.
Richard did not deny the allegations, but argued that he was under the influence of alcohol.
“I want to apologise for my actions. I drink but not very excessive to the extent of threatening to kill him. If anything happened I think I was drunk,” he said.
Magistrate Ms Lynn Manyika heard the matter and granted the protection order.
