BROADBAND Internet services provider Dandemutande announced Friday it had acquired YoAfrica, a rival local ISP. The transaction and consolidation of the business is expected to provide a “one-stop shop” for customers.
Dandemutande believes that its pan-African reach, infrastructure and market leadership will be ably combined with YoAfrica’s technical expertise to create a competitive business.
Dandemutande is part of Gondwana International Networks — a pan-African communications services provider with operations in nine countries — which has one of the largest VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) operators in Africa through its operating brands, AfricaOnline and iWayAfrica. VSAT is typically a satellite communications systems that serves both home and business users.
The transaction, however, remains subject to regulatory approval. Dandemutande CEO Mr Nhena Nyagura said last week the new entity will result in dynamic growth for group.
“We are excited about this development. Our combined culture, represented by a strong customer focus, reliable service and product excellence will ensure that our customers receive the best in class service.
“The combined business now possesses a market leading talent pool coupled with a formidable mix of solutions and services that will translate into dynamic growth for Dandemutande,” said Mr Nyagura.
As part of the deal, Mr Mark Kalweit, the MD of YoAfrica, will join the Dandemutande executive management team. He said the new talent pool that had been created had potential to develop new ground-breaking products and services.
“This transaction accelerates our mission to provide a guaranteed simple and fast service that connects our customers to other people, content and online commerce. We are looking forward to developing new products and services enabled by this exciting combination,” said Mr Kalweit.
The transaction strengthens Dandemutande’s national presence with additional regional project operations and an office in Victoria Falls. It also widens YoAfrica’s reach for its strong enterprise base. As a result, Dandemutande will also have the largest VSAT customer base nationally.
