A DARING commercial sex worker allegedly broke into an apartment of her regular client in the Avenues area, stole valuables worth US$1,550, and then tried to seduce a security guard to let her get away with the loot.

The loot included two laptops.

The security guard is being praised by some residents of the apartment block for resisting the seduction from the commercial sex worker and sticking to the virtues of his profession.

The incident happened on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old, Hazel Makavanga, allegedly sneaked into Tendai Chizura’s apartment at Warwick Flats, through a window.

She then stole the valuables, which included two laptops.

As she was leaving the apartment block, security guard, Francis Andrea, noticed that Hazel did not have the parcels she was carrying when she entered the complex.

Hazel had told him that she was visiting a client, who usually hires her at the complex, when she arrived at about 1am, and she was not carrying anything. He confronted Hazel and asked her about the origins, and owner, of the items she was now carrying.

After she failed to provide a satisfactory answer, Francis called the police, leading to Hazel’s arrest.

One of the tenants at the complex commended Francis for refusing to be seduced by Hazel.

“We want to commend the security guard for being professional.

“This lady was hired on several occasions for sexual encounters at the flat by one of the tenants, who stays in Room 408.

“Due to these regular visits, she became well versed with the set-up at the flat.

“Francis called law enforcement, leading to Makavanga’s arrest.

“She was found in possession of keys to the house, and part of the stolen items were recovered.”

Added the tenant:

“She tried in vain to reason with Francis for her release but he resisted her seductive antics.

“She lied that she wanted to visit Room 408 to meet her client who usually hires her.

“She was allowed entrance and instead proceeded to the fourth floor, where she found the bathroom window of the complainant’s room open.”

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest.

“Police arrested a woman for unlawful entry and theft at an apartment in the Avenues area.

“On Tuesday, at around 0130 hours, the accused person approached a security guard at the flat.

“She gained entry through the open window, entered the bathroom, proceeded to the spare bedroom and stole two laptops – an HP and a Lenovo – together with a laptop bag.

“After stealing, the accused person exited through the main door which she accessed by unlocking it using keys she found on a table in the dining room.

“The keys were recovered upon searching her,” said Insp Chakanza.
