Daring stunts put street kids’ lives on the line

Rungano Gwanzura

At the bustling intersection of Jason Moyo Avenue and Rotten Row Road in Harare, a disturbing trend has been spotted: street kids clinging to the backs of speeding vehicles.

This reckless behaviour sparks serious concerns about the safety of both the children and other road users, highlighting the urgent need for attention and action. The dangers of this practice cannot be overstated.
A single misstep or loss of grip could result in severe injury or even death.

Moreover, the driver of the vehicle may be unaware of the children clinging to the vehicle, which could lead to a potentially catastrophic accident.
It is essential for authorities and stakeholders to address the root causes of this issue and provide support to ensure the safety and well-being of these children.
