The National Darts Association of Zimbabwe has named a provisional team that will represent the country at the 23rd Zone VI Championships later this year. NDAZ secretary Steven Mwarindira said yesterday the players were selected after a national tournament held at Munyati Power station near Kwekwe on June 7.
Several players in different age groups were selected for the championships that will be held in Harare in August.
“The provisional Team Zimbabwe Darts 2014-2015 was shortlisted after the National trials held at Munyati Power Station in Kwekwe, Midlands.
“The actual Team Zimbabwe Darts 2014-2015 will be selected, according to the average play during continual thorough training ahead.
“Moses Ndlovu is now on fourth position after verification of points and Ndumiso Tshuma will now be called to the seniors team replacing the former who was initially in that team,” said Mwarindira.
In Harare Province Darts the league will hold the preliminary trials for the National Heroes Closed Darts Tournament at ZRP New Highfield Camp.
The competition is aimed at selecting players who will represent the Harare Darts Association in the upcoming National Heroes Closed Darts Tournament to be held in Mutare, Manicaland.
The NASH darts association will on Thursday also hold the national finals to select the team that will go onto represent the country at next year’s Zone VI Games set for Namibia.
Busiso Chakawa the head in charge of darts in schools said they are expecting a big tournament to be attended by several young players from all the provinces.
“We are looking forward to a big event as this will be the chance for several players to try and represent the country,” said Chakawa.
