Dauda, Chikafa to leave ZPC Kariba?

2014 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League runners-up ZPC Kariba might lose a number of their key players whose contracts expire at the end of this month.
Some of the players who could walk away from the Kariba based club at the expiry of their deals are defender and newly crowned Soccer Star of the Year Dennis Dauda and forward Limited Chikafa.

Speaking shortly after the Soccer Star of the Year awards ceremony, Dauda said while he was still committed to the club, he was most likely to move to another local club if he did not strike a better deal with his current pay masters.

However, the 26-year old Kwekwe-born player said he was currently in talks with ZPC Kariba on a contract extension, but could not rule out a move away from Kauya Katuruturu in the event that he got a lucrative offer elsewhere.

“My contract expires at the end of the year, I might move to another club if I get a good offer, I am in talks to renew my contract at the moment,’’ said Dauda.

Chikafa, the Soccer Star of the Year second runner up on the other hand declared that his time at ZPC Kariba was up and he was looking at joining another club. The nomadic 33-year old was instrumental in ZPC’s remarkable season with his nine goals but he could not reveal which club he was to join.

“I think my time at ZPC Kariba is up now, I am not sure which club I am moving to but I feel I still have some years left to play,’’ said Chikafa.

Big clubs like Dynamos and Highlanders are most likely to start jostling for the two players. ZPC Kariba coach Saul Chaminuka was recently quoted in our sister publication Chronicle declaring his interest in taking up the vacant post as Highlanders head coach. His assistant coaches are also understood to be willing to move with Chaminuka should the coach decide to shift base from Kariba to Bulawayo.

Harare City captain David Kutyauripo, voted among the country’s most outstanding players for this season has hinted a possible move to Bosso. Kutyauripo spent a few years in Bulawayo where he turned out for the now defunct Njube Sundowns.
