A 28-YEAR-OLD Kwekwe woman assaulted her father after accusing him of being drunk and damaged family property in Mbizo suburb.

The woman, whose name was withheld by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), appeared at Kwekwe Magistrates Court last week facing two charges: domestic violence and malicious damage to property. She pleaded guilty to both.

According to the NPAZ, the incident happened on 1 July around 2PM. She confronted her father, slapping him twice on the head while accusing him of being drunk.

Things escalated when she smashed the rear and side screens of a Toyota Ipsum with a brick, causing US$250 worth of damage.

The court handed her a two-month prison sentence, suspended on condition of good behaviour for the domestic violence charge, and fined her US$200 for the property damage.

Police investigations followed after a formal report was made, leading to her arrest.
