ZIMBABWE’S Brendon de Jonge continued with his fine start in the Nedbank Golf Challenge as he finished in sixth place after the second round at Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa.
The Zimbabwean ace was impressive yesterday after showing he could be one of the men to beat in a first round suspended due to a hailstorm. The 30-member field managed to complete the first two rounds yesterday and will go into today’s third round with Welshman Jamie Donaldson holding the lead. De Jonge was five strokes adrift of the leader.
Meanwhile, Zvishavane’s Rowland Park Golf Club is expected to retain the Zimbabwe National Handicap whose finals teed off at Norton yesterday. The event has teams from all provinces – Elephant Hills, Leopard Rock, Norton, Chegutu, Chinhoyi, Hillside, Gweru and Hwange – sending teams of six players.
Harare province was supposed to send two teams but Royal Harare did not send a team.
