TOTTENHAM boss Roberto De Zerbi aimed a scathing jibe at exiled star Richarlison.
De Zerbi confirmed on Monday that Richarlison will NOT be brought back in from the cold for the Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool.
The Brazilian has been axed from Spurs’ 25-man Premier League squad after asking to leave last month.
But he is still eligible for cup competitions.
However, despite seeing his side fail to score so far in the league this season, De Zerbi insists there is no way back for last term’s top scorer.
The Spurs chief said: “Richarlison, you already know everything, nothing changed for the Carabao Cup or Premier League. The situation is the same.”
Richarlison, 29, started Spurs’ horror 3-0 drubbing against Brentford pn the opening day before the row over his future developed.
And, during the pre-match press conference for the game at Anfield, De Zerbi was quick to remind reporters of that fact.
Asked if Richarlison’s Spurs career is over, De Zerbi replied: “I don’t know. It’s not for me this question.
“Anyway, we lost in Brentford 3-0 with Richarlison. Maybe you forgot. Just to remember.”
“Richarlison will not play even if he’s available. Not even in the Carabao Cup, no.”
That led to a response from Richarlison on Twitter after transfer insider Fabrizio Romano quoted De Zerbi.
The ex-Watford star issued a cryptic post own the comments’ section with a simple crying emoji. And hours after the presser, Richarlison posted on Instagram stories a screengrab of De Zerbi’s quote confirming his exclusion for the cup, coupled with his own comment of “Why?” and a sad emoji – Sun.
