Dealing with fear

What is fear?

F-E-A-R . . . False Evidence Appearing Real.

According to research, most of the things that many people desire but lack in life are on the other side of fear.

This simply means that instead of avoiding fear, you need to face it, deal with it and overcome it otherwise you remain a prisoner in a jail that you would have built for yourself.

Thus, in most cases, what you fear to do holds the treasures that you seek.

Nelson Mandela once said, “Courage is not the absence of fear but triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid but he who conquers that fear.”

 Mixed bag!

Fear is both good and bad. It is good in the sense that it keeps us from harm and it is bad because when not controlled, it keeps us stuck.

It is important to be able to conquer fear to live a victorious, successful and happy life. Many people are bound by fear in one way or the other.

Fear defeats many people more than anything else.

Instead of worrying about what people will say and then you put yourself in a corner, why not worry about accomplishing what they will admire and then you put yourself on a good spotlight.

One of the greatest discoveries in life is realising that you can actually do what you were afraid of doing.

Fear is a liar that you need to educate out of your system. How can you be afraid of tomorrow when you have lived yesterday already and you are witnessing today also?

Sad scenario!

Fear is like as thorn in your flesh, you keep feeling it until you address it.

To overcome fear, just do that which you are afraid of doing and then keep on doing it.

Trying to avoid danger that keeps on coming on your way is actually more fearful than dealing with it.

When you face your fears, you will gain knowledge of what you are dealing with and it is a better option in most cases, than running away from what you do not know.

Do not be found living in the could; have, may have and should have zone, it is a sorrowful place to be.

The knowledge that one day you will die, should help you to race with time and do now those things you fear to do before it is too late.

The ability to overcome fears, brings so much fulfilment and freedom.

Franklin Roosevelt once said “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” This is because fear brings so much limitations in life.

It is important to constantly feed your faith so that your fears may starve.

I believe that it is almost out of this world to find a person who says he or she is not afraid of anything, however, it is possible to live with people who have starved fears and those are the kind of people who are able to face anything.

Life is all about trying.

If you try and it does not work, there is no need to give up on the goal, you probably need to change the direction to the goal.

I have come across people who experience real tragedy in life and these are the kind of people who fear light more than darkness. They look for security more than opportunities.

According to Zig Ziglar, fear has two meanings, “FEAR means Forget Everything And Run or it means Face Everything And Rise.”

 The choice is yours.

My advice is that, choose wisely. Do not allow fear to be your definition especially in this era where we are hard pressed on every side.

Extract from my book “Born to Fight, “…. seeing me troubled, a friend of mine pulled me by the side and gave me advice that turned my life around.

“Let the lioness in you roar and all the monkeys and baboons will not come near you again.”

With doubt, I looked her in the eyes but, as we made eye contact, she nodded her head in agreement and this strengthened me…”

The story goes on, I then went on to face what I was afraid of and what I had run away from for almost four good years.

I received the shock of my life when I engaged in the battle and I came out victorious.

Running away from fear will not overcome it, the best way out of it is facing it and dealing with it head on, grabbing your lessons and moving on. However, as you face your fears, you need to do it with wisdom so that you do not get consumed in the process.

Do not allow fear to define you.

Be challenged to study your fears to gain knowledge and understanding on how to conger them. Be encouraged to give it a try. Do not be scared of failing because by being scared and keeping a distance, you are already failing. Be inspired to change the trajectory of your life after dealing with your fears.

It is not just women who have fear issues, a significant number of man, probably even more than women, have fears too. I know this one is debatable and we can go on and on.

My simple advice is, come on, BREAK THE BIAS about who is more fearful, lets journey together in overcoming the fears of life and life can be sweeter.
