OFFICES will soon be established in high-density suburbs in cities and towns across the country to expedite the collection of information on potential beneficiaries of the residential title deeds programme launched by President Mnangagwa in Epworth in 2023, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi, has said.
Responding to questions from legislators in the National Assembly on progress made on the issuance of title deeds, Minister Ziyambi said the launch of the title deeds programme in Epworth was a pilot phase to provide insight into how the project would be implemented.
President Mnangagwa launched the title deeds programme to secure property rights for homeowners in areas previously regarded as informal settlements.
“More specifically, in urban areas, Epworth was a pilot so that we appreciate the process, then we would decentralise to other areas,” said Minister Ziyambi.
“When we started, we were very excited; we thought it was easy but giving a title, it is a document that confers rights to the exclusion of everyone else.
“Hence, we had to be thorough. What the Minister of Local Government (Daniel Garwe) was saying is, we needed to ensure that we do all the processes. I will give an example of Epworth; some people are there,” he said.
