CHICKEN Inn skipper DANNY “Deco” Phiri says the Gamecocks are not under pressure in their Champions League showdown against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday night.
Phiri is expected to play a leading role as Chicken Inn battle to preserve their 1-0 lead from the first leg at Barbourfields.
“We do not have pressure at all. We are going there to play our normal game and what I know is that they are going to come at us,” said Phiri.
“A number of our players have not played under floodlights and it might be a big factor but some have the experience and I am sure that our boys will adjust.
“We are looking forward to having a practice match on Friday night and it is my hope that it will help us a lot.”
Phiri said while Khama Billiat was a special player, the entire Sundowns team was full of good players.
“The whole Sundowns team is very dangerous and it’s a great team and our focus will not be on Billiat because he is not playing alone but the entire team,” said Phiri.
“It’s going to be a tough match but we are going to give our best. We are just going to approach the match the same way we did two weeks ago and I am just appealing to all the Zimbabweans to rally behind us on Saturday.
“We might go there as underdogs but the truth is we might surprise a lot of people and come up with a positive result.
“We will be flying the Zimbabwean flag high.”
Morale in the Chicken Inn camp was high as they went through their paces at Hartsfield yesterday with coach Joey Antipas cracking jokes in the rain.
“We love this type of weather because we are likely to meet the same conditions when we play Sundowns on Saturday,” said assistant coach Prince Matore.
