TAKESURE Chiragwi said he didn’t want to drag himself into the storm of reports which linked him with a move to CAPS United last week.
Chiragwi appeared set to be unveiled as the Green Machine coach, after he held discussion with the club’s officials in Harare last Sunday, on his way back here after a league match against FC Platinum in Zvishavane.
Everything seemed set for his unveiling ceremony with CAPS United president Farai Jere scheduling a media conference for Thursday, which was later called off at the last-minute.
Instead, the Green Machine ended up elevating Ian Bakala, who had been appointed assistant coach a few days earlier, as their substantive new coach.
After Ngezi Platinum Stars were held to a 2-2 draw by ZPC Kariba, Chiragwi was asked by reporters about reports linking him with CAPS United.
“I’m sorry for that question, I will not respond to that because I am not the one who writes newspapers.
“It’s you guys, the journalists.
“I’m here in Ngezi, as you can see and I am employed by Ngezi Platinum Stars as their coach so I cannot talk about CAPS United.”
Quizzed if the drama had affected him mentally, Chiragwi said he was not the kind of person to be influenced by headlines.
“No, not any effect on me,” he said.
