A decomposing human head, suspected to be that of a child was discovered along a stream that separates Zimre Park and Damofalls in Harare about a fortnight ago.The head was wrapped in a blood soaked blanket, spotting a woollen hat. The absence of the decapitated body led many people to speculate that the victim could have been a victim of a ritual murder. Ms Louis Mwanza, a middle aged woman noticed the head as she was doing stream bank cultivation.
“At around 10 in the morning, I was tilling my land close to the stream when I hit something hard with my hoe. At first I thought it was a stone, only to discover it was wrapped in a cloth. “When I opened it, I first I thought it was a dog’s head. But when I saw human teeth I then alerted other people and we made a police report,” Ms Mwanza told The Sunday Mail.
The area in which the body was discovered is currently inhabited by illegal squatters. The Sunday Mail could not get a comment from the police as those authorised to speak to the media said they were yet to get information.
