SPICE up things in your living room by decorating your fireplace in an appealing way. When correctly decorated, it can make a sophisticated focal point that can be eye catching.

The colour of the fireplace makes a huge statement; hence, choosing the appropriate colour is important. Cream and white are excellent choices for your fireplace; they can unite with whatever you decide to decorate it with.

Create an illusion by substituting paintings with mirror especially if you have a small space. Mirrors create an illusion space where you feel like you have a huge space. An oversized mirror imitates an extra window by establishing a bright focal point.

Create a mini-garden inside your fireplace by gathering different plants and flowers. Get different vases and pots with different shapes, sizes and colours, filled with enthusiastic succulents which are easy to maintain. You can also make a cosy corner with these fresh flowers; house plants and place a comfortable chair. By so doing you will be making your fireplace an inviting and warmer place.

Tall branches protruding out of transparent water jugs can be perfect inside a fireplace.

Artwork is a great way to finish your home décor. Hang your favourite paintings on the fireplace or lean framed art within the fireplace or inside. Make sure your artwork or painting is visible enough so it does not disappear against the interior.

The simplicity of a singular sculpture inside a white fireplace makes this display extremely elegant. Be creative and place antiques and accessories inside. They can accentuate certain architectural features and titivate your home décor with unique items. Use a diverse mix of old and new finds in various materials, like antique metal candlesticks and an artsy stone bust.

You can also consider tiling the inside as well as the outside of your fireplace using small pieces of tiles. It might require a lot of work but the results are worth it.

Place well cut heaps of logs inside your fire place . . . from bottom to the top. If your fireplace is deep enough, strategically place slices of actual logs.

Candles can be placed as an alternative of a fire. Displaying candles inside your fireplace will add instant warmth to your living room. Create a dramatic look by placing a mirror behind the candles which will make it look like you have twice the amount of candles. Try to find different sizes and shapes of candles as well as appealing containers. To create flaming glows light up your candles sometimes.

Use your fireplace for storage and décor in an appealing way. Pile up books in a creative way. Instead of books, you can also place a basket for both storage and decor.
