Delta beat Donnington to clinch CBD pool title

DELTA Beverages Lagers Pool Club beat police side Donnington to clinch the first prize in the Bulawayo Central Business District League Super 8 tournament that was played on Saturday at Golden Pillar, a venue popularly known as KwaDziko.

The Adam Machakwa-led Delta Beverages demolished Donnington 5-3 to take a prize-money of US$100 home while the latter got US$60.

In a third place playoff, another police outfit Bulawayo Central thumped Ekasi 5-0 and got US$30.

Ekasi got US$20 while Mash Restoration, Mpumelelo, Nokkies and Expendables came out on position five, six, seven and eight respectable.

Central Business District Pool League chairman Aburekwi Mazikita said they were happy that they hosted a successful tournament.

“It was indeed a surprise win for Delta because no one expected them to shine. The turnout was very pleasing and the contest was played in true sportsmanship. We are looking forward to having a similar tournament where we will give the other eight members of our 16-member league a chance to compete against each other.
