Delta Corporation has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to education and national development and unveiled its 2026 bursary intake during an induction ceremony held at the Mandel Training Centre in Harare.
The ceremony was held under the theme “Educating Today’s Learners, Powering Zimbabwe’s Future.”
The programme, which targets 100 students from A Level through to university, is part of Delta’s broader corporate social investment strategy aimed at strengthening Zimbabwe’s human capital base by supporting learners from underprivileged backgrounds.
Speaking at the event, Delta Corporation general manager – Corporate Affairs and spokesperson Ms Patricia Murambinda said the initiative is designed to cushion talented students from financial constraints while contributing to the country’s development agenda.
“Delta remains committed to supporting Zimbabwe’s national development agenda by investing in education and skills. Through this bursary programme, we are helping to protect learners’ potential from financial barriers and strengthen the country’s future workforce,” she said.
Ms Murambinda said the company believes targeted educational support is a practical way of building sustainable communities and a stronger economy.
The bursary programme, which has been running for over two decades provides annual support of close to US$100 000 and has benefited more than 1 300 students to date, representing an investment of approximately US$2,1 million.
Recipients are selected in partnership with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to ensure that support reaches high-potential learners from disadvantaged communities across all provinces.
Beyond bursaries, Delta Corporation said it is also investing in broader skills development initiatives, including classroom infrastructure projects in underprivileged communities, technical training through the Delta Technical Institute, artisan training at Mandel Training Centre, and driver training programmes focused on heavy motor vehicles.
The company also runs a Graduate Development Programme aimed at nurturing early-career professionals.
According to the company, these combined interventions have contributed to the development of professionals across multiple sectors including medicine, engineering and finance.
Delta Corporation encouraged the 2026 cohort of beneficiaries to remain focused and committed to academic excellence, urging them to use the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the national development agenda.
