DELTA Corporation Limited has reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to inclusive sport and equal opportunity through its continued support of the Danhiko Annual Games.

The 36th edition of the games brings together athletes competing in swimming, goalball, wheelchair basketball and tennis.

The event provides a national platform for athletes with disabilities to demonstrate their talent, discipline, resilience and competitive excellence.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony on Saturday, Delta Corporation Limited general manager, Corporate Affairs, Ms Patricia Murambinda highlighted the company’s 36-year partnership with Danhiko, which has supported the games from their inception to the present day.

“Delta Corporation is proud to have supported the Danhiko Annual Games for 36 years,” she said.

“This partnership reflects our belief that talent exists everywhere, even when opportunity is not equally available.

“These Games help create a fair platform on which athletes can compete, pursue excellence, and be recognised for their achievements.”

From their inception until 2010, the Games were known as the “Chibuku Danhiko Games”, reflecting support provided through the Chibuku brand.

In 2010, sponsorship transitioned to the Delta Corporation corporate brand. Although the Games no longer carry the Chibuku naming rights, Delta Corporation has continued to support the event as an important sporting and social platform.

She said the transition reflects Delta Corporation’s commitment to responsible marketing and to ensuring that its partnerships are inclusive, age-appropriate and aligned with the diverse communities it serves.

For the 2026 Games, Delta Corporation has provided US$13 000 towards the athletes’ awards. The contribution is intended to recognise sporting excellence and celebrate the effort, preparation and discipline demonstrated by the participating athletes.

The company said its partnership with Danhiko extends beyond financial sponsorship.

“Sport has the power to change how people see themselves and how society sees them,” she said.

“It creates visibility, challenges stereotypes, and shifts attention from limitation to capability. Inclusion is not simply an invitation to be present; it is the provision of a fair chance and the creation of a platform on which every person can compete, contribute and excel.”

She commended the Government of Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, the Danhiko Board of Trustees, management, staff, coaches, officials, families, caregivers, volunteers and all partners for their contribution to the continued success of the games.

The company also called for the continued strengthening of pathways through which athletes can progress from community participation to national, regional and international competition.

“After 36 years of partnership, Delta Corporation remains proud to stand with Danhiko. When opportunity is shared, talent is celebrated, and every person is given room to shine, we are all Brighter Together,” she added.

The 36th Danhiko Annual Games are being held under the theme of inclusion, opportunity and sporting excellence, with athletes competing for honours across the various sporting disciplines.
