DELTA Corporation has donated US$10 000 to Matthew Rusike Children’s Home in Epworth for various projects, adding to its long-standing support for the institution, which has seen it investing more than US$70 000 in various projects at the home over the years.
The donations reaffirm Delta’s commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable children and supporting the institution’s staff.
Speaking during the handover ceremony on Tuesday, Delta Corporation corporate affairs executive Mrs Patricia Murambinda said giving back to communities remains a core pillar of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.
“To date we have we have made a contribution of over US$70 000 towards the development of various projects at Matthew Rusike Children’s Home, and we reaffirm a partnership that extends beyond corporate responsibility—it is a partnership rooted in hope, dignity, and a shared commitment to improving lives,” she said.
“Today, we are not simply handing over infrastructure and equipment. We are investing in people. We are investing in children. We are investing in a future where every child has the opportunity to grow in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment.”
Delta Corporation has, over the years, had the privilege of walking alongside St Matthew’s Rusike Children’s Home on its development journey.
“Together, we have witnessed what is possible when communities, institutions and business unite behind a common purpose,” she said.
“We assisted this institution with the Installation of a CCTV security system to improve the safety and protection of the children and staff and chipped in towards the construction of a classroom block, creating an environment that promotes learning and personal development.”
Delta Corporation also assisted in the solarisation of the children’s home and school, thereby providing a more reliable and sustainable source of energy, and the installation of a shed net for the greenhouse to strengthen agricultural production and food security.
The Deputy Head at Matthew Rusike Academy, Mrs Memory Mapfumo, thanked Delta Corporation for the assistance, considering it a lifesaver.
“Delta Corporation has done a tremendous job by assisting us with the solarisation of the first borehole, together with support for the second borehole, piping infrastructure and water storage tanks to ensure sustainable access to clean water,” she said.
“They renovated our piggery, poultry facilities and fish ponds, helping strengthen income-generating projects that contribute towards the home’s long-term sustainability.
“We now have access to water, education, food security, renewable energy and economic opportunities that improve our learners’ welfare for generations to come.”
Reverend Linrlelink Mutenzwa, the national director at the institution, saluted Delta Corporation for all the investments made, and he promised that they will utilise them for the betterment of learners’ welfare.
