Delta hosts financial reporting workshop

of workshops that started in 2008.
Delta Corporation’s director for corporate affairs Mr George Mutendadzamera said the goal of the workshop was to enhance financial reporting in the country.
“The main objective of the workshop is to improve financial reporting skills in Zimbabwe. We believe this workshop will add value to the Financial Reporter of the Year Awards at the National Annual Media and Journalistic Awards.
“We are committed to the continuous improvement of the reporting skills of our journalists. We are pleased with progress to date and look forward to building on this success,” he said.
Key presenters at the workshop include the workshop facilitator Mr Godfrey Mutizwa, who is currently the chief editor responsible for editorial direction at CNBC Africa.
He is a career journalist with experience spanning across the full spectrum of media from broadcasting, print, news agencies to new media.
Mr Mutizwa will take delegates through various modules in financial reporting, highlights being the basics of financial reporting, the dynamics of financial markets and also effective interviewing skills.
Securities Commission of Zimbabwe chief executive Tafadzwa Chinamo, an accomplished investments analyst and manager will focus on the role and structure of the Securities Commission as well as the Commission’s expectations from the media, as well as doing regional comparisons.
Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Dr Desire Sibanda will discuss the National Medium Term Plan, which was launched last year.
Dr Sibanda is a seasoned economist currently responsible for economic policy formulation, implementation and evaluation, designing economic plans and co-ordination.
Also on the panel is Mr Henry Muradzikwa, who will present a paper on Corporate Reputation and the Role of the Media. Mr Muradzikwa is a former Editor of The Sunday Mail, past Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Inter-Africa News Agency and former Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Holdings.
Mr Mutendadzamera said that they were looking to grow the training workshop.
“Our vision is to grow the workshop and we are excited and humbled by the overwhelming response from the media fraternity.
“We are confident of developing it into the country’s premier media training programme,” he said.
Delta will host a cocktail reception for delegates during the workshop, and participants will be presented with certificates of participation.
