Delta re-defines Golden Pilsener

DELTA Beverages has come up with a new packaging material for its Golden Pilsener product, one of the largest local premium brands in Africa.
The giant beverages firm yesterday unveiled plans for a “new state-of-the-art packaging material for the brand”, which it said was in keeping with the world beer packaging trends.

“The new packaging material will consist of the new pressure sensitive label on the 340ml non- returnable pack, refreshed labels for the 340ml and 660ml returnable bottles and the can packs,” it said in a statement.

Delta said the Golden Pilsener brand has steadily grown in volume, value and share over the years, having a consistent loyal drinker following of young males and females.

This market, it said, had for a long time voiced the need to continuously premiumise the brand in line with their status and the image of the brand and world beer trends.

“We listened to this call and hence we have upgraded the brand look and feel from paper label to pressure sensitive label for the non-returnable bottle and refreshed all packs in line with this. It is the same great quality Golden Pilsener in a premium packaging,” said Delta.

Golden Pilsener was launched in the 1980s as Castle Pilsener. It was targeted at affluent males of 35 years and above of social stature and were after a light, unique, great tasting lager.

It was withdrawn as a Castle and re-introduced in the 90s as Golden Pilsener, the name it still uses today.

The brand was launched as a premium lager in 2010 due to its strong ties with golf as it still leverages on the sponsorship of golf.

Golden Pilsener was named after Pilsen, the small Bohemian town that gifted the world this special brew.

Delta Beverages has brewing and beverage operations across the country covering all major cities and towns.

It runs more than 15 beer brands and has 3,000 employees across the country.
