Black Rhinos forward Garikai Dematsika says he is happy to help his team back to winning ways after a 2-1 win over Manica Diamonds at Bata on Sunday after putting a man of the match deserving performances.
Victory moved Black Rhinos off the bottom of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League standings to 17th, swapping places with Cranborne Bullets.
Dematsika scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.
Manica Diamonds forward Fortune Binzi opened the scoring after 23 minutes before Lot Chiunga levelled matters in the 67 minute.
Dematsika had earlier been denied by Manica Diamonds goalkeeper Tedious Baye in the fifth minute.
Several attacks were nullified by Baye who kept on denying Lot Chiunga and Evans Katema.
“I feel happy to be on the score-sheet after a long drought and helping the team win,” said Dematsika.
“I am grateful to the heavens for this wonderful chance and I want to keep on pressing hard.
“We now have to continue pushing and help the team into a better position.
“Of course you would want the team to be more successful ahead of my personal achievements.
“A win against Manica Diamonds means a lot as it is one of the teams in the league with the best players.”
