PREMIERSHIP giants Dynamos and Highlanders are set to get significant motivation ahead of the start of the season as they are expected to launch new sets of kits to be used during the year courtesy of their partnership with international sportswear manufacturers Adidas.
Under the deal brokered by their sponsors BancABC, the clubs receive playing kits, training equipment and casual wear for players and officials.
Highlanders are looking forward to receiving their part of the provisions at a function to be held in Bulawayo today while Dynamos will get their allocation in Harare on Thursday.
The partnership which enters its second year this season is likely to see more replicas being put on the market with the clubs benefitting a percentage from the sale of the imported merchandise.
Officials yesterday revealed that Bosso are set to get their provisions today in Bulawayo while Dynamos are expected be handed theirs on Thursday in Harare.
An official said they are looking to grow their partnership with Adidas which has been crucial in helping the two teams to uphold some sense of professional outlook on and off the pitch.
The launch comes on the back of the resumption of the rivalries between the two teams on the pitch as Dynamos landed another blow to the opponents with a 2-0 win in the final of the Bob 90 Super Cup at Rufaro on Sunday.
The Bob 90 Super Cup was a perfect stage for the giants to test their preparedness for the new season.
DeMbare managed to maintain their dominance over their opponents which now stretches into the eighth year. They have not lost a match to Highlanders since 2006. But for all the sub-plots involved, Dynamos midfielder Masimba Mambare had the last laugh after scoring the opening goal that punished his former side before another newboy Ronald Chitiyo sealed the game.
Mambare who experienced an acrimonious departure from the Bulawayo side after a surprise move to the Glamour Boys during the January transfer period said it was a daunting task facing his former team.
“We prepared well for the encounter and we came in the game with a positive attitude and we played as a team which saw us winning.
“Playing against your former club can be a challenging situation but I managed to remain focused and scored as well.
“The goal came as a bonus as I managed to utilize the small chance which came my way and I am so happy to help my team win.
“I have nothing against Highlanders. It is a team I played for and I hope they will take it up from there and build a good team.
“Winning the cup is good for me and I am now looking forward to the new season which I hope will be good,” said Mambare.
Former Monomotapa midfielder Chitiyo who was voted the man of the match was also happy that he managed to win his first silverware with Dynamos and believes it is the beginning of a good season to come.
“I played well and I hope I will continue with my good form in the coming season. I came into the game expecting to win and I am happy that we managed to do that,” said Chitiyo.
Highlanders accepted they were second best on the day but their captain Innocent Mapuranga said the defeat was an eye-opener ahead of the new season.
Bosso featured some of their new players like Charles Sibanda, Kuda Mahachi, Felix Chindungwe, Valentine Ndaba and Welcome Ndiweni but unfortunately the whole team failed to rise.
“We tried our best. As you can see we are coming from the off-season and we are still trying some combinations here and there.
“But the performance wasn’t that bad. I think we lost the game through our own mistakes and we are going back to work on those mistakes and come up with good ideas.
“This is now water under the bridge. I believe 2014 is a different year. It’s going to be a year of opening the doors and I think we are going to be counted in this league,” said Mapuranga.
