DYNAMOS have denied speculation that key defender Gift Bello is unsettled at the Harare giants and could be on his way to Premiership rivals FC Platinum. There have been reports going around that Bello is unhappy at Dynamos as he is still owed nearly US$3 000 and has been reluctant to ink a new deal.
Bello, a 2013 Soccer Star of the Year Finalist, has been training with the league champions and even played in their friendly match Chapungu at Gwanzura on Wednesday.
Dynamos secretary-general, Webster Chikengezha, said Bello gave an assurance that he will be at the Glamour Boys.
“I have heard the story of Bello possibly going to FC Platinum and I even asked him about it. He said he was not aware of the intended move and he has been training with the other players.
“On Wednesday he played the full match in the game against Chapungu. This is off-season and sometimes a lot of things are bound to happen and players may also be tempted by other offers but they keep it a secret,” said Chikengezha.
Bello could not be reached on his mobile phone.
The Harare giants are understood to have tabled an offer for Lincoln Zvasiya, maybe, as a possible cover.
Zvasiya plays for Kaizer Chiefs and had been on loan to Greek club OFI Crete but he is now back in South Africa.
However, Amakhosi have exhausted registration of their foreign quota.
Chikengezha feels their preparations for the African Champions League campaign will start getting into proper shape next week when head coach Callisto Pasuwa, and some of the key players, return from national duty in South Africa.
At the moment assistant coaches Tichaona Diya and Philemon Mutyakureva have been taking charge of training.
Pasuwa and eight players —George Chigova, Masimba Mambare, Tawanda Muparati, Themba Ndlovu, Augustine Mbara, Patson Jaure, Simba Sithole and Oscar Machapa — are in South Africa with the Warriors.
Dynamos will play Mochudi Centre Chiefs of Botswana in the African Champions League preliminary round, first leg tie at the National Sports Stadium on February 9.
Chikengezha feels that the return of Pasuwa and the other players will be crucial in assembling a strong squad.
“Right now the head coach is in South Africa and we hope he returns on Sunday so that we get all focus on the Champions League.
“This year we did not lose any of our key players and we have, in fact, added depth to the squad.
