DEFENDING champions Dynamos could be without their vice-captain Tawanda Muparati when they take on Harare City in the Independence Trophy semi-final at Rufaro on Sunday.
Dynamos manager Richard Chihoro yesterday revealed that Muparati is doubtful for the game after was sidelined from training because of an injury.
“Muparati was injured on the knee and he is still to recover from that injury. But even in his likely absence, we need to be well prepared.
“We should not be ill-prepared when we play against Harare City or any other team. It’s unfortunate that we did not know who was going to be our opponents and that made it difficult to prepare accordingly.
“But we have been preparing as usual and as the defending champions, we need to win every game we play,” said Chihoro.
Last year Muparati scored the priceless goal in the 41st minute at the National Sports Stadium to give his side the win over Highlanders while Chicken Inn beat Monomotapa 3-0 at White City in the third-place play off.
Dynamos will be aiming for their second trophy in the pre-season after beating Highlanders in the Bob@90 Super Cup.
The other semi-final this year will see Highlanders playing FC Platinum at Barbourfields on Sunday and the winners will then clash at the National Sports Stadium on April 18 for the main Uhuru celebrations.
Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said they have selected the teams to play for this year, basing on the top four positions from last season.
He said the knock-out competition should spur the selected clubs to search of an early silverware ahead of the 2014 season.
Gwesela said they have pegged the cheapest tickets at $3 while the western stands are $5 and $10 for the VIP.
