PREMIER Soccer League giants Dynamos could be on the track to reclaim their glamour after managing to fly their team to Kariba for a league date with ZPC Kariba.
The two sides face off tomorrow at Nyamhunga Stadium with the fixture scheduled to kick off at 3PM.
DeMbare flew into the resort town yesterday where they will hold a training session today and also rest ahead of the game.
From Kariba, the Glamor Boys will connect to Hwange for a week-long camp ahead of the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup date with Southern Region League side Hwange at the Colliery.
While flights are not new in domestic football, it had been long since Dynamos could afford such luxury.
The last time that Dynamos flew was in 2023, under the old executive when the Harare giants used Barbourfields as their home ground following closure of National Sports Stadium and Rufaro.
“We are grateful to our sponsor who has been behind this glory, and beyond where sometimes we are getting extras that had not been included in the contract,” said club chair Vincent Chawonza.
“Apart from these flights, the sponsor has also been providing transport for our fans to attend our games.
“All this is a result of unity, as the executive the only way to make it is speaking in one voice and this harmony gives our sponsor the confidence he needs.”
Chawonza said opting for flights is part of the club’s efforts to prioritise player welfare as they seek to complete the season in respectable position.
Further, Dynamos will in a few weeks be taking part in the CAF Confederation Cup, added the chair, hence they need the team to be in the best possible shape.
This is also the first season in three when Dynamos reach this stage of the campaign without going on strike for outstanding dues.
“We have a number of competitions coming up and the right thing for us to do is to make sure that our team is always in the best shape,” he said.
“Looking at the distances that we were supposed to travel, by road it would be difficult for the players to fully rest in between.”
Dynamos will boast of mid-season acquisitions Burundian attacking midfielder Ramela Harerimana and Ghanaian defender Desmond Obeng who travelled with the team after being cleared.
However, the Aristica Cioaba mentored side have to wait longer to welcome another club’s recent signing Godknows Dzakpasu who is expected in the country on Sunday, from Ghana.
The 29-year-old midfielder starred for the reigning Ghanaian league champions Medeama last season, and his contract with the West Africans expired on June 30.
Although they were reportedly keen to renew his contract, Dzakpasu opted for the Glamor Boys instead.
He was rated one of the best defensive midfielders in the Ghana Premier League during the 2025/26 season, helping Medeama clinch their maiden league title.
Dzakpasu has also featured for the Tarkwa-based side in the CAF Champions League previously, and his experience is likely to help DeMbare in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign this year.
The publication understands that Malawian Stanely Billiat has been deregistered and loaned out to Eastern Region side Africa Mineral Ventures (AMV) FC.
The move was meant to create a slot for new signings within the foreign quota as PSL clubs are only allowed to register eight internationals.
“After getting into the market late in the off season, we learnt a lot and felt that during the midseason we have to be very calculative,” said Chawonza.
“This explains our midseason business, we made some difficult decisions as a club so that we can restore our former glory and slowly we are getting there.”
On the pitch, results have also been coming for a side who were fighting relegation up to the last day of the 2025 season.
Currently they sit in third position in the log standings with 44 points to their name, eight adrift of leaders Scottland.
They are the only unbeaten side in July with a record of three wins and a draw while they also never conceded in the month.
