featured for the Glamour Boys in the Castle Lager Premiership.
The former Lengthens and Harare United player was recruited by Lloyd Mutasa to add power to the attack along Cuthbert Malajila during the second half of this season but the move appeared to have flopped.
Ngwenya never played under Mutasa and nearly came close to playing for DeMbare when Callisto Pasuwa wanted him for the game against Zimbabwe Saints at Rufaro.
Malajila has played in every game under Pasuwa but the veteran forward is set to miss this Sunday’s league tie against Masvingo as he is away with the Warriors in Cape Verde.
But it is Ngwenya who has been deemed excess baggage by Dynamos and has since been loaned back to his former club without kicking a ball for the Harare giants.
Dynamos fans had been expecting to see Ngwenya in action after his much hyped signing but they will now have to wait a little longer with club secretary Nyika Chifamba yesterday revealing that the player has been released.
Ngwenya never settled at Dynamos as his papers were never lodged with the PSL and he featured for his Namibian team on Sunday.
“We resolved that he goes back and play there (in Namibia) until the end of our season in December.
“We have a two-year contract with the player and the Namibians will pay us a fee for using the player during the period,” said Chifamba.
Chifamba also revealed that Dynamos did not register the player for the second half of the season.
“We could not register him because there were very few games left,” said Chifamba.
Dynamos, Chifamba said, could have dropped another player on their list to create a vacancy for Ngwenya.
“It’s too late with the championship race in our hands to make more changes when the team is doing well.
“Ngwenya also needed time to settle and he will come back,” said Chifamba.
PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele yesterday said DeMbare did not register the player with the league.
“Dynamos did not register Peter Ngwenya, even the registration documents did not reach the PSL office.
“All his documents were kept by Dynamos. We only read in the papers that Peter was registered but we have no records at our office to show that Peter was registered as a Dynamos player,” said Ndebele.
Meanwhile, action in the Premiership continues with Dynamos facing Masvingo at Mucheke.
The Harare giants have sought to have the match postponed after providing two key players -Malajila and goalkeeper Washington Arubi to the Warriors. Masvingo are now under Ralph Kawondera who served as an assistant to Mutasa at Dynamos.
Another interesting match this weekend will see defending champions Motor Action facing Blue Ribbon at home while Kiglon are facing Gunners at Rufaro on Sunday.
Kiglon are under Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe, the man Moses Chunga accused of stabbing his back to get the job at CAPS United.
Chunga is now at Gunners and the club have moved from the basement into the top eight while Kiglon are wallowing in the relegation puzzle.
